Band Members

Tony Connell
Tony started playing in a three piece band  with sister Helen and Brother-in law Greg called Lyve Jyve and played around Clubs and Functions for about 6 years, from there he filled in where needed as a session drummer for approximately ten years, Blue was rediscovered by country / rock band Born to Boogie who coaxed him into full time drumming for them, somewhere along the way he learned he could sing, he found this out after coming first in several talent quest, from there he moved to a full on rock band, Tripleshot, and found he was partial to rock classics, so after a short lay off he co-formed the band, Blue Mettle, four very committed muso’s who are about to revive some of your favorite musical memories.

Stuart  Duncan
Stuart has admitted to being a “closet” guitarist for the past decade. Stuart traded music for his sporting passion many years ago to become one of Australia’s top snooker players. Having successfully played for Australia throughout the world, he has now gone full circle, and we are glad he is back playing his Gibson Les Paul / P.R.S. & Maton guitars bigger and better than ever.
Stuart has been part of bands such as Audiovine and local three piece rock outfit Tripleshot, playing originals, heavy rock, country rock and blues. Stuart is also a prolific music writer, co-writing many of the songs as well as working with other local artists with their new album song lists.

Toby Lau
Toby has been playing Lead / Rhythm Guitar in bands, both here and in Hawaii,  for approx. 30 years, He also specializes in Rock, Jazz and Blues, His kid brother showed him a few songs and chords and that was it, the rest is history. He has played in a few bands in Hawaii. And his first real band won the regional battle of the bands, they were the house band at the local 'jazz cellar' for a couple of years.  Toby’s leads are superb and his rhythms are the canvas that Blue Mettle “paints” their music on.

Owen Bignell
Owen has been around for years playing in such notable bands as Kickback, Whiskey Overload, and The Knights, Initially he started out as a rhythm guitarist, then moved on to play lead guitar, after an accident to the regular bass player, Owen was commandeered to play bass and found that he loved it, so now a few years later he is keeping the beat on his Fender Five String Bass for Blue Mettle, the band he co-formed with Tony, Owen is a dedicated musician who loves all types of music especially old rock classics.
